Driving in the car, riding in the subway, walking on the street, looking at objects that we usually see. 


We always pass by the same places and never see anything new.
Forgotten objects on the streets of New York City that become ignored, faded and decayed by the harsh environment of the city...That's what attracts Grinchy's sight. 


These are the images that Grinchy collects and moves here for you. Through Grinchy's eyes this is not only to show the street objects, but to appreciate the images as changing layers and patterns that create the background of New York City. 


Grinchy likes to give more emphasis on the "How to see" more than "What you see". 


He likes to look at the world through a tiny "pinhole" and enjoys his American steak as well as his Korean cheong-guk-jang, he lives in the heart of NYC and always walks with a tiny camera in his pocket.

  운전하다가, 지하철에서, 길을 걷다가,보는 오브제들은 우리가 흔히 마주칠 수 있는 것들입니다.

 
  늘상 길에서 마주치는 것들이고 지나치는 것들입니다.새로운 것은 없습니다.

 
  그러나 대부분 우리가 외면하고 지나갑니다.

 
  어쩌면 보려고도 하지 않고,봐도 보이지 않고, 설령 봤어도 기억나지 않는...


  뉴욕시의 열악한 환경 속에서 오브제들은 외면당하고 바래지고 스러져 가지요.

 
  그린치 특유의 시선은 그곳에 머물렀다가 이곳으로 옮겨 집니다.


  그린치의 눈을 통해서 그것들이 오브제로 그치지 않고 뉴욕을 뉴욕답게 만드는 모티브로
힘으로 아름다움으로 그리고 최종적으로는 에너지로 옮겨질 수 있기를 바랍니다.


  그래서 '무엇을 보았는지' 보다 또, '어떻게 보려고 했는지' 에 주목해 주세요.

 
  그는 작은 구멍을(pinhole camera) 통해서 세상을 바라보길 좋아합니다. 그래서 오래전부터 핀홀 사진작업도 하고 있답니다.


  미국 스테이크 만큼 한국의 청국장을 즐겨하는 그는 뉴욕의 심장부에 살면서 항상 작은 카메라를 주머니에 넣고 오늘도 뉴욕을 걷고 있습니다.


  아참, 참고로 그의 재미난 별명을 소개합니다. 아마 '미스터 청국장' 이라고 부른다지요?
