1.7~5.27 총 20회 강의
비영리 한인 미술인 지원단체 알재단 (AHL Foundation 대표 이숙녀)은 2025년 1월 7일(화)부터 5월 27일(화)까지 총 20회에 걸쳐 미술사 수업을 온라인으로 진행한다. 강의는 한국어로 진행되며, 미 동부시간 매주 화요일 오전 10시부터 11시 30분까지 열린다.
지난 학기에 이어 이번 봄 학기에도 고진영 박사가 연사로 나서 장기적인 관점에서 현대 미술의 다양한 면모를 폭넓게 향유(享有)하고 이해할 수 있는 방법을 소개한다.
이번 학기 강의 제목은 "현대 및 동시대 미술 탐구: 재료, 형태, 개념”으로, 수강생은 강의를 통해 작가들이 어떻게 여러 경계를 허물고, 혁신적으로 재료를 사용하는지 알아본다. 또한 작가들이 작업을 창작할 때 다양한 개념에 접근하고, 미술을 재정의 하는 방식 또한 살펴 볼 예정이다.
강의 접수 신청은 2024년 12월 31일(화)까지 가능하며, 모든 강의는 한국어로 진행된다. 20주 수업으로 구성 된 2025년 봄학기 학기 수업료는 $400 이며, 접수 및 문의는 info@ahlfoundation.org 로 하면 된다.
한편, 강의를 진행하는 고진영 박사는 컬럼비아 대학에서 미술교육학으로 박사를, 캘리포니아 예술대학(California Institute of the Arts)에서 사진 및 미디어로 현대 미술 석사를 취득하였다.
작가로서 고진영 박사의 작품은 필라델피아 미술관(the Philadelphia Museum of Art), 시카고 아트 인스티튜트(the Art Institute of Chicago), 록펠러 재단(the Rockefeller Foundation) 등 유수 기관의 컬렉션에 소장(所藏)되었으며 현재 매릴랜드 토우슨 대학교(Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education at Towson University in
Maryland)의 미술사 및 디자인, 미술교육학과의 조교수이다.

Registration for the AHL Foundation’s Spring 2025 Art History Classes Now Open
20-Week Long Course Runs from January 7th to May 27th, 2025
The AHL Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Korean artists, will hold its Spring Art History classes from January 7th to May 27th, 2025. This 20-week long course will take place over Zoom every Tuesday morning, from 10:00am to 11:30am (EST). Classes will be conducted in Korean.
About the Course:
This semester’s course, titled “Exploring Modern and Contemporary Art: Materials,
Forms, and Concepts”, will explore the diverse and boundary-pushing practices of
modern and contemporary artists, focusing on their innovative use of materials,
conceptual approaches, and how they challenge and redefine the boundaries of art.
Each week, we examine influential artists whose work responds to cultural, political, and environmental themes.
Registration is open through December 31st, 2024. Tuition for the semester is $400 for the 20-week course. Questions and inquiries can be directed to info@ahlfoundation.org.
About the Lecturer:
Dr. Jinyoung Koh is a graduate program director and an assistant professor in
Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education at Towson University in
Maryland. Dr. Koh completed a Doctor of Education in Art & Art Education from
Columbia University in New York. He earned a Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His art has received numerous awards and is included in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Rockefeller Foundation.
