삼바춤 추는 신데렐라 인형극

신데렐라 인형극이 한인타운이 있는 뉴욕 플러싱에서 무료 공연된다.

꼭두각시 인형극 ‘신데렐라 삼바(Cinderella Samba)’가 5일 오전 11시부터 12시까지 메이플 그라운드(136-50 Maple Avenue and Kissena Boulevard)에서 펼쳐진다.

플러싱 체임버와 시티팍스 재단이 공동으로 마련한 인형극은 삼바 뮤직을 배경의 뮤지컬 인형극이다. 신데렐라가 시공을 초월(超越)해 삼바의 나라 브라질에 와서 벌어지는 이야기를 담고 있다.

지난해 삼바 탄생 100주년을 맞아 브라질에서 열린 행사에 출품된 작품이기도 하다. 이후 뉴욕 5개보로에서 100회 이상 공연을 하는 등 좋은 반응을 얻고 있다.

주최측은 야외에서 무료로 제공되는 이번 공연에 관객들이 의자나 담요를 준비하면 편하게 즐길 수 있다고 밝혔다.

존 최 대뉴욕상공회의소 대표는 “여름철 다양한 야외 행사를 통해 플러싱이 가족들과 주민들의 멋진 문화공간이 되고 있다”면서 “시티팍스 퍼핏모빌과 함께 남녀노소 모든 연령층을 위한 공연을 마련하게 되어 기쁘다”고 말했다.

한편 이날 공연은 주1회 열리는 플러싱 그린마켓의 오프닝 행사를 겸하게 된다. 플러싱 그린마켓은 오는 11월 22일까지 매주 수요일 오전 8시부터 오후 4시까지 영양교육과 워크샵, 음식시연회 등 다양한 이벤트가 이중언어로 제공된다.

Flushing Chamber & CityParks Foundation Sponsor First PuppetMobile for Flushing Community

The performance is also taking place on the same day as the launch of a new Maple Playground Greenmarket season. The Flushing Greenmarket operated by GrowNYC will be open every Wednesday from 8am to 4pm, from July 5 to November 22, 2017. This year's Greenmarket includes bilingual nutrition education workshops, cooking demonstrations, seasonal celebrations, and family-friendly activities.

Every participant over 18 years of age will receive a $2 Health Bucks coupon for attending workshops to use towards the purchase of fruits and vegetables. The Flushing Chamber partners with GrowNYC to promote the Greenmarket and coordinates programming with the local business and civic community.

Cinderella Samba is a contemporary twist on the classic "Cinderella" fairy tale. The CityParks PuppetMobile production sets the timeless tale in the lush landscape of Brazil, where Cinderella attends Rio de Janeiro's biggest Carnival gala and, with the help of her fairy godmother, dances the samba with Prince Paulo himself. After Cinderella is forced to flee the gala just before midnight, the prince sets out to find the mystery woman who stole his heart, in hopes of marrying her.

As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of samba, which originated in Brazil in 1916, the CityParks PuppetMobile brings the magic and grandeur of Rio de Janeiro's world-famous Carnaval festivities to neighborhood parks across the five boroughs with more than 100 free performances of Cinderella Samba.
