한국인 최초의 유엔사무총장 반기문 총장 초상화(肖像畵) 제막식이 거행됐다.
14일 유엔본부 사무국 로비에서 반기문 총장과 부인 유순택여사, 조태열 유엔 대사 각국 외교관 등 관계자들이 자리한 가운데 초상화가 공개됐다. 이 초상화는 이원희 화백이 6개월 작업 끝에 반기문 총장 이임을 앞두고 기증(寄贈)해 사무국 로비에 걸리게 됐다.
반총장 초상화는 코피 아난 직전(7대) 총장을 비롯한 역대 사무총장들의 초상화와 나란히 걸리게 됐다.
초상화는 푸른색 넥타이를 맨 정장 차림의 반총장이 지구본 위에 손을 얹고 있는 모습이다.
반 총장은 “전임 총장들의 초상화와 함께 나란히 걸려 영광스럽다”면서 “이원희 화백이 실제 모습보다 젊고 잘 생기게 그려줘 고맙다”고 말해 웃음을 자아냈다.

유엔안보리 반총장 감사결의안 채택
유엔 안전보장이사회(안보리)가 14일 특별회의를 열어 세계 평화, 안보, 개발에 대한 반 총장의 기여와 국제 현안 해결에 대한 공적에 감사를 표시하는 결의안(2324호)를 만장일치(滿場一致)로 채택했다.
결의안은 국제 평화와 안보, 개발, 경제사회, 환경, 문화, 인도적 지원, 인권과 자유 등 분야에서 반기문 사무총장의 기여와 노력을 평가하고, 유엔 헌장의 목적과 원칙 및 국가들간 우호 관계 증진을 위한 헌신에 경의를 표하는 내용이다.
결의 채택 후 Roman Oyarzun Marchesi 스페인(12월 의장국) 대사는 안보리를 대표하여 지난 10년간 반기문 총장의 노고에 사의를 표하고 지속가능개발(SDG), 파리 기후변화협정, 국제 인권보호 및 인도적 지원 노력 증진, 평화 관련 3대 재검토 등 반 총장의 업적을 평가했다.
반기문 총장은 연설에서 지난 10년간 안보리가 혁신적인 사고를 통해 다수 평화유지군 및 정치임무단을 파견하고, 여성과 평화안보 문제를 안보리 의제에 주류화한 것을 평가하고 서부사하라, 남수단, 시리아 문제 등에 있어 안보리의 역할을 촉구했다.
DRAFT RESOLUTION TRIBUTE TO THE OUTGOING SECRETARY-GENERAL
The Security Council,
Recognizing the central role that Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has played in guiding the Organization in the discharge of his responsibilities under the Charter of the United Nations,
Further recognizing his sustained efforts towards finding just and lasting solutions to various disputes and conflicts around the globe,
Commending the reforms that he has initiated and the many proposals that he has made on the restructuring and strengthening of the role and functioning of the United Nations system,
1. Acknowledges the contribution of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to international peace, security and development, his exceptional efforts to solve international problems in economic, social, environmental and cultural fields, as well as his endeavours to meet humanitarian needs and to promote and encourage respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all;
2. Expresses its deep appreciation to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for his dedication to the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter and to the development of friendly relations among nations.
