백악관 ‘부활절 달걀’ 아시안 디자이너 작품

 

백악관이 어린이들의 놀이동산으로 변신한다.

 

백악관의 이스터 에그롤 행사가 28일 펼쳐진다. 해마다 부활절(復活節)을 맞아 열리는 백악관 이스터 에그롤은 버락 오바마 대통령과 가족들이 어린이들을 초대해 각종 게임과 스포츠, 공연 등 다양한 이벤트가 마련된다.

 

138년 역사의 백악관 이스터 에그롤 행사는 부활절 다음날인 월요일 열리고 있다. 올해의 부활절 테마는 '축하합시다!(Let’s Celebrate!)'로 3만5천명 이상이 백악관 잔디마당(사우스론)에 초대돼 하루종일 대통령 가족과 함께 전통 달걀 굴리기 놀이도 참여하고 공연도 감상하며 즐거운 시간을 갖게 된다.

 

 

 

올해 백악관 부활절 행사 프로그램엔 한인들과 한인사회와 인연있는 이들이 참여해 관심을 끈다. 먼저 부활절의 상징이기도 한 백악관 부활절 달걀 디자인은 그래픽 디자이너이자 인기블로거인 조이 조의 작품이 선정됐다.

 

 

 

조이 조는 태국계로 남편이 한국인이다. 백악관이 공개한 부활절 달걀 디자인은 모두 5종이다. 각각 다른 색상으로 칠해졌고 앞에는 토끼 혹은 강아지 그림과 '이스터 에그롤 2016'이, 뒤엔 대통령 부부 서명(署名)이 새겨졌다. 13세 이하의 모든 참가자에게 기념품으로 제공될 예정이다.

 

또 야외무대에서 열리는 락앤에그롤 스테이지에선 한인 김만중 김원중형제가 이끄는 브레이크댄싱팀이 공연을 한다. 이들은 비영리 재능기부단체 BEAT 지난 6년간 뉴욕시 저소득층 중.고교생들에게 무료로 힙합을 가르쳤다. 이날 행사에선 3명의 청소년들과 함께 신나는 브레이크 댄스를 선보인다.

 

이밖에 샤킬 오닐 등 많은 스포츠스타들과 연예인들, 유명 셰프들이 참여해 어린이들과 함께

하루 종일 다양한 이벤트를 함께 한다.

The White House Historical Association presents a look back at the White House Easter Egg Roll from 1898 to 2002.

 

 

Happy Friday all! We're heading to Washington D.C. to spend Easter at the...wait for it...WHITE HOUSE! Eeek! A few months ago, I was asked to design the logo for this year's Easter Egg Roll at the White House so we'll be joining the festivities with the Obama's on Monday! Then, taking a little trip to see family in Philly while we're East side. I hope you have a nice weekend and a Happy Easter for those of you who celebrate it!

White House Keepsake Eggs 2016

 

This year’s White House Easter Egg Roll features five souvenir eggs, designed by graphic designer and blogger Joy Cho. The collection features four colored eggs with stamped signatures of the President and First Lady on the back, and one gold “Bo and Sunny” egg, with stamped “signatures” and “paw prints” of Bo and Sunny on the back.

 

The eggs first became part of the tradition in 1981, when President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan hosted a hunt for wooden eggs that bore the signatures of actors, actresses, famous politicians, and athletes.
