'성공회워싱턴교회'의 '최상석' 신부가 후쿠시마 오염수(汚染水) 투기 중단을 요구하며 9월 1일 부터 40일 동안 ‘오체투지(五體投地)' 기도를 시작했다.
최상석 신부는 일본을 향해 “해양 테러와 다름없는 오염수 무단 투기를 당장 중단하고, 하느님이 창조한 자연 질서를 파괴하지 말것"을 강력 요구하며 일본 대사관 앞에서 오체투지 기도를 시작한다고 밝혔다.
최상석 사제는 "오염수 문제는 괴담, 선동과 주장의 영역이 아니라 생명(生命)의 영역임을 알아야 한다"고 강조하며, "일본은 반인류적이고 무책임한 불량국가로 스스로를 인정하는 행위를 멈출 것"을 요구했다.
이날 주미 일본대사관 앞에서 시작한 오체투지 기도는 매주 월요일부터 금요일까지 오전 11시부터 12시까지 진행된다.
해외촛불행동 워싱턴이 진행하고 있는 일인시위도 같은 시간 일본 대사관 앞에서 진행할 예정이다.

If the discharge of nuclear wastewater is deemed unacceptable in New York and Massachusetts, it should not be permitted in Japan either.
